Table Tennis Club Dress Code and Rules in Goonellabah
Social Play:
We encourage a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Here's what we ask:
- Neat and Tidy: Dress comfortably, but ensure your clothing is clean and presentable.
- Non-Marking Shoes: Keep our courts pristine by wearing shoes that won't leave scuff marks.
- Respectful Attire: Avoid clothing with offensive designs, lettering or logos.
Competition Play:
Stepping up your game? Take note of these additional guidelines:
- All Social Play Rules Apply
- Colour Contrast: Choose a shirt, shorts or skirt in a colour that clearly differs from the white table tennis ball. This ensures optimal visibility during play.
- Final Call: If unsure about the suitability of your attire, two committee members will make a final decision, considering the players' ages and any potential limitations.
Understanding the Game
Table tennis is all about strategic rallies! Here's a quick rundown of the basics:
- Objective: Hit the ball over the net and land it on your opponent's side without them returning it successfully.
- Scoring: Be the first to reach 11 points, but with a minimum two-point lead over your opponent. If the score ties at 10-10, "extra points" are played until one player achieves a two-point advantage. The player who wins a rally scores the point, regardless of who served.
- Matches: The number of games per match is flexible, but agree on this beforehand!
- Serving (Singles): Each player serves two consecutive times before switching to the opponent. During "extra points," serve changes after each point.
